Great to see a real Fabric labour of love FOLD featured in the recent RIBA Journal
Client trust in the architect built on a shared ambition for something ‘out of the ordinary’ lies behind FOLD - a geometric glass, zinc and aluminium extension to a former farmworker’s cottage that was heavily influenced by a Rezvani Tank – a ‘tactical’ offroad vehicle – that we saw in the clients’ garage. We liked the idea of a sleek but rugged metal shell pavilion reminiscent of the clients’ car and Batman’s iconic Kevlar suit.
What Fabric delivered stayed true to the initial concept. Playfulness aside it created some amazing internal spaces and provided some fantastic panoramic views of the landscape.
